What Is SureSmile®?
SureSmile® is a dental technology company that uses digital imaging and advanced algorithms to scan your mouth and design your perfect smile. At Horizons Dental, we work with SureSmile® to help you get the smile of your dreams. Using SureSmile®’s technology, we can plan exactly how to gradually shift your teeth for the best effect. SureSmile® is a system of orthodontics that uses clear aligners to move your teeth, instead of relying on metal traditional braces. This means that SureSmile® aligners are more subtle and comfortable than traditional metal braces. How Does SureSmile® Work?
When you decide to use SureSmile® to straighten your teeth, we will take a digital scan of your mouth. SureSmile® uses cutting-edge imaging technology—no more need for messy and uncomfortable molds. With the digital scan, we plan where to move your teeth and show you the future results. SureSmile® also uses the scan to manufacture the clear aligners you’ll use to straighten your teeth. You’ll wear your aligners both day and night, taking them out only to eat and brush your teeth. You’ll have regular progress checkups with Dr. Leyder to ensure that your teeth are moving properly. You’ll also regularly get new aligners to continue moving your teeth. How long SureSmile® takes will depend on how much your teeth need to be moved and how diligent you are about wearing your aligners. How Much Does SureSmile® Cost?
While your exact cost will vary based on your unique situation, overall SureSmile® is very affordable. How much your teeth need to be moved and how many sets of aligners you need will affect your total cost. Did you know orthodontics isn’t just used for cosmetic reasons? There are a lot of oral health reasons you might need SureSmile®. Dental insurance will often cover SureSmile® because a crooked or misaligned smile can impact your health. You should check with your dental insurance to see their coverage policies. You can also call Horizons Dental, and we would be happy to help you work through finances.Benefits of Straight Teeth
Getting a perfectly straight smile isn’t just about aesthetics. Well-aligned teeth have many benefits to your overall oral health. For example, teeth that have gaps between them can allow your other teeth to move and cause more alignment disruption, and a misaligned jaw can lead to jaw pain. One big benefit of straight teeth is preventing decay and wear. Crooked or crowded teeth can be hard to floss between, and they can also create places where your toothbrush can’t reach, opening you up to bacteria build-up, decay, and even cavities. Plus, when your teeth aren’t aligned properly, they can rub on each other and wear down your tooth enamel, weakening the tooth.Do I Need Braces?
Not everyone needs braces, but if you’re wondering if your teeth are straight enough to avoid health problems, make an appointment at Horizons Dental. We can help you figure out the best treatment for you. In general, you might need braces if you:- Have teeth that are visibly crooked, crowded, or gapped.
- Have a hard time getting floss between your teeth.
- Frequently bite your tongue.
- Have teeth that don’t close properly when your mouth is closed and at rest.
